My Journey with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

"On the girl's brown legs there were many small white scars. I was thinking, do those scars cover the whole of you, like the stars and the moons on your dress? I thought that would be pretty too, and I ask you right here please to agree with me that a scar is never ugly. That is what the scar makers want us to think. But you and I, we must make an agreement to defy them. We must see all scars as beauty. Okay? This will be our secret. Because take it from me, a scar does not form on the dying. A scar means, I survived."

Where Did the Time Go?

Man oh man, I can't believe it's been so long since I've updated.

My right hip is way way better than I ever even imagined. To be honest, when I went into surgery I wasn't completely sure this was going to work. The surgery was just about my only option left and living with constant hip pain and popping for 3+ years, I was ready to do whatever it took. I wanted to have surgery just to finally do something to possibly fix my hips. The past 3 years have been a huge waiting game; trying new therpies, having countless tests, seeing more and more specialists and constantly planning my life around my hip pain. Needless to say, I was ready to have surgery even if it didn't completely fix my hips. I wanted to be confident that the surgery was going to work, but being let down many times before made it hard for me to put all my eggs in one basket.

Now, all I can say is that I wish I did this 3 years ago. It's such a great feeling and I'm honestly excited to have my other hip done this December. When I say I'm excited to have surgery I think a lot of people don't really understand how I could be excited to be cut opened...again, but I really am. Seeing how well my right hips is doing I'd go in tomorrow to do my left hip.

I have some videos that were taken before my surgery and new ones just recently taken. I'm going to try to upload them within the next few days. It's really pretty cool to see how much better my right hip is now post-op. It's amazing!
